Real Madrid’s Master Plan

Mbappe (PSG) and Haaland (Borussia Dortmund) for many are considered the next big rivals in football, just like Messi and Ronaldo were in the last decade. Real Madrid right now are in the unique position to put the next two stars of football under the same banner. Putting this two stars together would be the beginning of another Galácticos era for Real Madrid.

How did Real Madrid got into this position of being able to sign both players? It’s no secret that Mbappe has had an admiration for Real Madrid since his childhood and there’s also the fact that his two biggest football heroes Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo are Real Madrid legends. With Mbappe there’s the fact that Real Madrid tried to sign him from PSG, but all attempts fail, and with Mbappe’s contract expiring on the summer and all reports and rumors directing towards Mbappe finally making his dream of wearing Real Madrid’s white shirt, it puts the club in a very good position.

Haaland’s case is a very interesting one. All of Europe’s titans are after Haaland, but the latest reports indicate towards Haaland preference of playing in Spain, and currently, Real Madrid are the only team able to afford his tag price and wages. With Barcelona being out of contention due to financial reasons, Real Madrid for than ever in the best position to unite the next decade and form a dream team we would only see in video games.

Financially, Real Madrid are in a very good spot. Real Madrid was one of the few clubs that was able to make a profit despite the millions of dollars lost due to the pandemic that affected the world of football these last two seasons. Players like Bale, Marcelo and Isco, very high earners in terms of wages are in the their last contract and will most likely leave the club at the end of the season and opening even more Real Madrid’s wages for a signings like those of Mbappe and Haaland.

LaLiga’s president, Javier Tebas, a few months ago confirmed that Real Madrid are the only club with the financial power to affront a big operating like is uniting Haaland and Mbappe. This comments from Tebas are very surprising due to LaLiga’s president is not a huge fan of Real Madrid and he’s in somewhat of a personal feud with Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, due to the Super League and the recent CVC deal with Spanish clubs.

Is it going to happen? While Real Madrid right now are the favorites to sign Haaland, it’s a very difficult operation due to the interest of all the big clubs of Europe. Teams like PSG and Manchester City can offer Haaland more money than any other club to their backing from their owners, it all depends of what the player wants, like we’ve seen with Mbappe and PSG so far, with the player rejecting all offers from the french team in an effort to join Real Madrid this summer for free.Real Madrid also have advantage of Florentino Perez having a good personal relationship with Borussia Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.

The next six months in the world of football will be interesting, especially everything regarding Mbappe and Haaland’s possible arrival to Real Madrid. If this moves ends up happening, this could be considered one of the greatest transfer moves of all time and would once again prove why Real Madrid fans have Eperez on a very high regard.
