Are you sitting comfortably? It’s about to kick-off again…

With not a single drawn game on the opening weekend, the Premier League table is split straight down the middle; ten teams made the perfect start, the other ten need their first points on the board. Round two is shaping up very nicely.

Liverpool vs Burnley will open proceedings today, and after the Reds impressive win against Norwich City last weekend, they’ll be looking for another three points. It’s hard to see a different result. Burnley battled hard against Brighton last weekend in a losing effort, but as one of the favourites for relegation this season, it’s unlikely they’ll leave an intense and imposing Anfield with anything. They may grab a goal, but nothing more.

Predicted Score 3-1

Aston Villa vs Newcastle United features two team that were both beaten in the opening weekend, but Villa have a great chance to grab their first points of the season. While Newcastle played well at home against West Ham, taking the lead twice before eventually losing a thrilling match, can they carry this form away from home? It seems unlikely. Aston Villa will be a different prospect at Villa Park and expect their raft of new signings to start producing impressive performances.

Predicted Score 2-0

Supporters who remember the Frank de Boer debacle at Selhurst Park in the 2017/18 season will keep an interested eye on Crystal Palace vs Brentford. After an extremely poor showing against Chelsea last weekend, Palace, under the guidance of new boss Patrick Vieira, will need to seriously improve in front of their home fans. But Brentford are riding the crest of an Arsenal-slaying wave and will provide daunting opposition. De Boer déjà vu at Palace?

Predicted Score 1-2

Leeds United vs Everton offers The Whites a chance for redemption after being soundly beaten by Manchester United last weekend. Elland Road is a fortress, but Everton did show serious resolve in their opening match, coming from behind to beat Southampton. Both clubs will be challenging for a top ten finish this season, and there is some serious talent in each squad. A highly enjoyable match is one the cards, but also the first drawn game of the season

Predicted Score 2-2

The Canaries had a tough time against Liverpool, and now they trudge North for Manchester City vs Norwich City. The fixture computer hasn’t been kind to the Norfolk club, and only the most optimistic fan will see anything but a home win here. After a defeat, Manchester City usually come out with all guns blazing, so expect very little mercy on display today. This one could be a goal fest.

Predicted Score 5-0

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Watford features our pick for the surprise team of the PL season. And it isn’t Brighton. We tipped Watford to survive in the Premier League, and we’re sticking to it. Their impressive win against Villa was a great start, and we think they’ll continue that form this weekend. Brighton grabbed a late win against Burnley, but it wasn’t an overly impressive performance.

Predicted Score 0-2

Southampton vs Manchester United is the first match on Sunday, and Saints fans will be hoping that another thrashing isn’t on the cards. It’s happened to them before. United were exceptional against Leeds United, and another three points is likely. Are Manchester United serious title challengers this season?

Predicted Score 1-3

The first away game of the season for Nuno Espírito Santo, and it’s back at his old stomping ground. Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Tottenham Hotspur gives us plenty to discuss on Sunday. The old boss back with his new team, having just dispatched the champions. His old team looking for their first points of the season with their new boss. It’s a tantalising head-to-head. Expect the Wolves players to up their game for this one, and there is still the question that everyone wants answered – what is happening with Kane?

Predicted Score 1-1

The game of the weekend is Arsenal vs Chelsea. North London versus West London. Arsenal have spent big this summer, but they needed to. They were toothless against an inspired Brentford. Chelsea was the exact opposite against a woeful Palace and showed why some people are tipping them for the title. It’ll be a fascinating game at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Plus, will we see a returning Lukaku line up for The Blues?

Predicted Score 1-2

This round of games finishes on Monday evening with West Ham United vs Leicester City, two teams who’ll be pushing for the top six places in the final league table. West Ham have been resurgent under David Moyes, and Leicester continue to make great progress under Brendan Rodgers. This might be surprise prediction, but we’re going for West Ham to just edge this one. It’ll be a hugely close contest, but The Hammers can grab the three points.

Predicted Score 1-0
