We are over a month away from the start of the 2021-2022 NFL season, but it is never too early to start looking at some futures that you can place your money on with the most potential payout!
This season will be highly anticipated due to the return of fans in all stadiums and many of these players having the ability to play in front of their home fans for an entire season for the first time since 2019-2020. Per DraftKings, here are the current odds:
Patrick Mahomes +500
Aaron Rodgers +1000
Josh Allen +1000
Russell Wilson +1400
Dak Prescott +1400
Matthew Stafford +1600
Tom Brady +1600
Lamar Jackson +1800
Justin Herbert +1800
Kyler Murray +2000
The odds are certainly interesting at this stage. Mahomes leading the pack with the best odds of +500 is certainly not a surprise. A bit shocking, however, is Aaron Rodgers considering the drama revolving around his current situation with the Green Bay Packers.
The two value picks to consider at this stage are the old dudes of the top 10 favorites – Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford. Brady will be leading the reigning Super Bowl Champs who should continue to be very good and potentially even better on offense as Brady familiarizes himself with his receivers even further. However, Stafford is in a much better situation with the Los Angeles Rams than he has been in with the Detroit Lions recently. He should have weapons in Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, and a speedy, but aging Desean Jackson. With the news that Cam Akers is going to miss time due to an ankle injury, the Rams will likely rely even more on the pass than they have before especially considering what should be an upgrade in Stafford.
Stafford finished last season with 4084 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on a Lions team that was not very good for the majority of the season. He has consistently seen over 4000 yards passing nearly every season since 2011 and has considerably limited his turnovers since the 2013 season. With a much better team on both sides of the ball and a much better television market, Stafford should get considerable notice if he plays to the level he is capable of and that he’s played to over the last 10 years.
At +1600, Stafford seems to be a good potential future to consider for the 2020-2021 NFL MVP award.
