Positives about Monday Night Raw:

Bobby coming in this week as the new WWE Champion had me pumped. While, I never particularly cared for Bobby Lashley, I respected the length of time he has wrestled as well as the fact that he was in great shape. The new entrance with the pyro made it clear he was the champ and that WWE hopefully will keep him champ for a while. The match between him and The Miz was solid.

I really enjoyed the match between Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. I’m a fan of both of them and they delivered. The match was physical and hard hitting leaving both men bruised and scarred up by the end of the match. I did hope it would be the two of them battling it out for the championship at Wrestlemania. However, as Bobby is champ I don’t see that happening. I do see them giving a hell of a match though if it is a non title match. Drew’s promo before Sheamus attacked him was great as well.

I absolutely loved the New Day’s Mortal Kombat ring gear. It was homage to Sub Zero and Scorpion. As a big Mortal Kombat fan, I was hype to see it. I also appreciate just how much effort they put into their gear. Xavier’s match wasn’t necessary, but it was a solid match. The Matt Riddle match as well.

Last, the AJ Styles match and Randy Orton match was good. Nothing special necessarily, but good.

Negatives about Monday Night Raw:

Now for the things that I didn’t like or I found odd. The Braun Strowman and Shane McMahon segments both time just seemed odd to me. For the life of me, I coudln’t understand why Braun asked for an apology. His reasoning seemed off. When Shane came back out again, Shane seemed out of it. His heavy breathing could be anything, but it still didn’t work with the segment and left me not only confused, but annoyed.

While, I understand Asuka is supposed to be injured, the fact that she is champion seems to be null and void to me. I love Asuka. I think she is one of the best WWE has on the roster, but she hasn’t been booked well. Her tv presence has either been non existent or overshadowed by someone else.

The Women’s Tag Team championship match just seemed unnecessary. I get having the titles defended, but it seemed the match where Naomi started to shine, was in the background as the focus was on Reginald in my opinion.

Finally, I don’t know if I’m the only one who feels this way, but I’m over the Alexa Bliss mini Fiend thing. Over it. I know Bray Wyatt should be back soon, but as of right now I don’t care. I’m okay with long term story telling and build, but it lost its way over the last few weeks. I don’t think I’ll care when The Fiend does finally decide to come back.

Overall Thoughts

As someone who watches a lot of wrestling throughout the week, it would be nice that my week of wrestling stars with a show that can entertain me all the way through. This week’s Raw seemed a bit over the place. Don’t get me wrong their were segments and matches that were great, but overall this episode of Raw failed to captivate me. I don’t know if it’s just the different style of writing for the shows, but Smackdown and NXT are always done better and I need that to change. I know some shows will just be hit or miss with the way wrestling is now, but come on! As for a letter grade for the show, I’ll give it a C+.
