Monday Night Raw Opening/ Miz TV
Monday Night Raw opened up with a segment from Hulk Hogan. A segment I found unnecessary and I wasn’t amused.
Afterwards, there was a new episode of The Miz TV with special guests The New Day. The New Day changed it to New Day Talks and in my opinion this segment dragged a bit. Finally when The Miz and John Morrison got upset, Teddy Long came out to say they would have to face The Undertaker (a play on his gimmick years ago.) However, he then corrected himself and made a tag match between The New Day vs John Morrison and The Miz.
The New Day vs The Miz and John Morrison
Winner: The New Day
This match was okay. There was a lot of back and forth between the teams. Anytime The Miz and John Morrison would try to turn the tide, The New Day kept coming. Both Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods did some high flying action. Especially Xavier towards the end of the match. Xavier did a Shining Wizard to John and then pinned him for the win.
Elias vs. AJ Styles
Winner: AJ Styles
As soon as the bell rung for this match, Elias attacked AJ, even managing to escape a headlock from AJ Styles. It seemed for the early portion of the match Elias had much control over AJ. He did a sit-out chokeslam and even managed to catch AJ midair, when AJ tried to do the a Phenomenal Forearm. He hit AJ with a jumping knee, but didn’t get the win. Elias did an electric chair, but AJ countered it with a hurricanrana. AJ did the Styles Clash to get the win.
Right after the match, Jaxson Ryker tried to hit Omos with a guitar shot, but he botched it before leaving with Elias.
Charlotte Flair and Asuka vs. Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans
Winner: Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans
Charlotte Flair and Asuka went against Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans in nontitle match. Ric Flair was on the ringside to support Charlotte. Both Peyton and Lacey showed some good chemistry, better than they have in previous matches. However, Asuka was able to deter that until Peyton pushed her off the ropes. Both Peyton and Asuka stomped Asuka in the corner of the ring to make sure she couldn’t get the tag to Charlotte.
When Charlotte was finally able to get in, she did a bunch of chops to Lacey and then did a suplex to Peyton. She then did a moonsault to both of them. Charlotte then did a Natural Selection to Peyton, but Lacey was able to break that up leading to a two count.
Later on Ric seemed to have made Charlotte trip and this allowed Peyton to win the match in a crucifix rollup pin. After the match, Charlotte was very angry with Ric and sent him away from her.
Bobby Lashley vs. Matt Riddle
Winner: Matt Riddle
Matt Riddle started this match off quickly trying to take down Bobby Lashley. He kept striking, but Bobby dealt with it with the greatest of ease. Bobby dominated for most of the match even knocking Matt out and leaving him looking confused.
However, Matt was able to fight back by doing a straight kick to Bobby’s face and did a Bro-ton. Bobby then did a Dominator and tried to do a Hurt Lock, but Matt springboarded off the ropes. Matt did tap, but as the ref did not see it, the match continued. Matt was able to get the victory with a rollup pin.
Shayna Baszler vs. Dana Brooke
Winner: Dana Brooke
Mandy Rose was originally supposed to have this match, but Shayna Baszler attacked her and that is when Dana Brooke said she would do the match instead. This match was quick as Shayna was able to get Dana in the Kirifuda clutch, but Dana countered with a rollup pin to win. Shayna never broke the Kirifuda clutch, and Mandy broke it up. Dana and Mandy then did a double flapjack to Shayna to end this segment.
Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton
Winner: Randy Orton
Before the match, Randy Orton gave an explanation to why he did not burn Alexa Bliss. It didn’t make much sense, but he then went to the ring to go against Jeff Hardy. Randy quickly attacked Jeff, using his methodical methods to hurt Jeff. Jeff did a Twist if Fate, but Randy sent Jeff to the floor. Randy then went for Jeff’s earlobe again like he did previously.
Jeff was able to do a corner clothesline and then a Whisper in the Wind, but Randy kicked out during the pin. Just as it seemed Jeff would do a Swanton, Randy rolled out of the way and then did a draping DDT. Jeff once again tried to do a Twist of Fate, but was caught by Randy’s RKO. Randy then pinned and won the match.
The Hurt Business vs. Lucha House Party
Winners: The Lucha House Party
Before the match Melina was backstage with Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado. At first it seemed The Hurt Business was dominating the match as MVP looked on from commentary. However, Gran was able to do a jawbreaker to Cedric Alexander. Just as Gran got some momentum, Shelton Benjamin did a big knee. There seemed to be some tension between Shelton and Cedric. Gran was able to superkick Cedric and then he rolled up Shelton with a crucifix roll up pin. After the match, MVP told Cedric and Shelton to get on the same page. Cedric left and Shelton was held back by MVP
Drew McIntyre vs. Keith Lee
Winner: Drew McIntyre
This was a pretty solid and hard hitting match. Early on Drew McIntyre got some great hits on Keith Lee to the point that the match went from the ring to the floor. Keith was able to send Drew over a guardrail and then continuously worked on Drew’s midsections and ribs. Drew was able to get Keith by launching him across the ring, but Keith followed with a spinebuster.
Drew put Keith through a table and we see him come back from that by once again powering through and working on Drew’s ribs. Towards the end of the match, Drew tried to do a Claymore, but Keith was able to counter with an attempted Spirit Bomb. However, that attempt was thwarted when Drew finally did hit the Claymore and won the match, successfully defending his title.
At the end Goldberg returned and challenged Drew McIntyre to a match at the Royal Rumble for the WWE Championship. McIntyre says that fighting Goldberg would be like fighting his dad. The copyright graphic goes up, and while it looks like Monday Night Raw is about to end, Goldberg shoves Drew and then the show ends.
