Monday Night Raw Recap (December 21, 2020)

Opening Segment: Charlotte Flair and Asuka

Monday Night Raw started with Charlotte giving a promo about Asuka needed her and as her friend she came to help her. She mentions being in the Thunderdome for the first time and walking out as champion. Then she introduced Asuka.

Asuka came out and talked about being a double champion. It seemed that Charlotte was going to ask for a shot at the RAW’s Women’s title, but Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler came out.

They talked back and forth, and then they were interrupted by Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose. After some discord about who gets a tag team title shot, Charlotte said let both teams face each other and her and Asuka will watch.  

Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke Vs. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler

Winner: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler

After the break the match started with Mandy and Shayna. Mandy was able to get Shayna in the corner with some shoulder thrusts. Dana was tagged in and they were able to get Nia down. Both Dana and Mandy did a double crossbody from the apron knocking both Shayna and Nia down. Dana was able to get some forearm moves on Nia, before Shayna was tagged in. Shayna went after her leg. After some back and forth, Shayna got Dana in a submission and won the match.

Angel Garza vs. Drew Gulak

Winner: Angel Garza

Before the match, Angel Garza did an interview backstage and then his opponent was Drew Gulak. This match was quick. Angel got the upper hand first getting quite a few strikes in before Drew got him with a side slam. Angel hit a hip toss and Drew got some punches in before he was stopped by a big boot to the face from Angel. Angel then did a superkick and a wing clipper to win the match.

Miz TV

In this segment, The Miz seemed upset that he failed to cash in his Money in the Bank contract successfully. He let his family down and he apologized to them. Then he brought out AJ Styles. AJ seemed very upset with The Miz and called him selfish saying that The Miz is the reason he lost the title.

The Miz said he wants to be the posterchild of WWE and be at the top saying he will get the respect he deserved. He then apologized to AJ. He then offered AJ a role in his next Marine movie which led to an argument. A brawl started between John Morrison, Omos and AJ. The Miz got between them saying he technically didn’t cash in that John did for him. This led to Drew coming out to remind them of their match later in night. Drew recited a prom and then Keith Lee and Sheamus

T-Bar vs. Ricochet

Winner: T Bar

This was a quick match. Ricochet started to fight T Bar before the bell rang, but T Bar was able to hit him with a crossbody. He also did some knees to the body before throwing him to the mat. Eventually Ricochet was able to send T Bar over the rope and also get Slapjack down with a dropkick. Mustafa Ali yelled from the outside that Ricochet belonged with them and T Bar hit his finisher to end the match.

The VIP Lounge

MVP started off this segment before giving the mic to the new tag team champions. Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin. They talk about winning the titles. Bobby Lashley goes next and says there is no one who can get the US title from him. Just as MVP asks to take a picture of the four of them. R- Truth comes out before quickly getting chased out of the ring. Jeff Hardy and Matt Riddle come over and some words are exchanged between the two of them.

MVP and Bobby Lashley vs. Riddle and Jeff Hardy

Winner: MVP and Bobby Lashley

Once this match happened, Bobby Lashley took down Matt Riddle very quickly. He threw Matt in the corner and tagged in MVP to keep Matt in the corner and continue beating Matt up. Eventually, Jeff was able to get in and some nice double team moves were done before Jeff was knocked off the top ropes onto the steel steps. He was beat up some more by Bobby and MVP before he got the tag to Matt. Matt got some great offense on MVP before Bobby saved him. Bobby then put Jeff in a Hurt Lock to win the match.

Gran Metalik vs. Jaxson Ryker

Winner: Jaxson Ryker

This was another quick match. Elias gave a promo and immediately after Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado came to the ring. A match started between Gran and Jackson Ryker. Elias stayed in the ring sitting on the top of the turnbuckle performing. Gran took Elias down with a hurricanrana. Jackson did a chokeslam to Gran for the win and the match ended.

Randy Orton Segment

Randy Orton came out and talked about how he was called sick and twisted in his career and he proved that with his match with The Fiend at TLC where he burned him alive.  Randy talks about how he can still smell the burning flesh and that the voices in his head was gone after the match from last night. Now, all he hears is Bray Wyatt’s gasps for his last breath.

The lights went out and then when the light came on Alexa Bliss was in the ring on a swing set. She said Bray built it for her and Randy was invited to play with her. She made a joke about him being burned and that when Bray comes back he will be like nothing Randy has ever seen. The lights went out again, and it comes back on with Alexa staring Randy right in the eye.

Asuka and Charlotte Flair vs. Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans

Winner: Asuka and Charlotte Flair

The match started with Peyton Royce and Asuka. There was an exchange of offensive moves before Lacey Evans tagged herself in. She hit Asuka’s leg, but missed a slingshot elbow. 

Peyton tagged back in and during the match, Asuka was in the corner getting beat up by both Lacey and Peyton. They tagged themselves in and out while arguing. Asuka finally did a suplex on Peyton and tagged in Charlotte Flair. Charlotte took them both down and did a Figure Eight on Peyton to win the match.  

Drew McIntyre, Sheamus and Keith Lee vs. AJ Styles, John Morrison, and The Miz

(Holiday Street Fight)

Winner: Drew McIntyre, Sheamus and Keith Lee

John Morrison and Sheamus started the match with some strikes, but John was able to bring Sheamus down before tagging in The Miz. The Miz stomped Sheamus into the mat before Drew McIntyre tagged in and beat up John. However, John was able to go for his knee.  

Keith then tagged in and threw John across the ring and tagged Sheamus back in. They do a double shoulder block and was able to take out both The Miz and A J Styles. Sheamus beat up AJ for a good amount of time, before he tagged Drew in. They did the 10 Beats of Bodhran to The Miz and John.

During the match, Drew power bombed AJ through a table that had a bowl of egg nog on it. Sheamus then tagged himself in and hit the Brogue kick, but then right after Keith tagged himself back in. Because of the brawl earlier, Omos put John through a table. Keith hit the Spirit Bomb on The Miz to win the match. Right after the match ended, Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick on Keith and the show ended with Drew yelling at him.
