The King James staying put in Los Angeles with New Two-Year Extension.

Lebron James will still call “The House Kobe Built” home through at least the 2022-23 NBA season. When the season ends in 2023, it will mark twenty years that James has been in the NBA.

The Los Angeles Lakers gave James an extension is worth 85 Million Dollars, his agent Rich Paul confirmed it with multiple outlets. Wednesday, was a busy day for Lebron; he also sold a business with Arnold Schwarzenegger named Ladder. The company was purchased by Openfit, which is primarily known as an application based company. The financials as of yet to be disclosed. The Lakers will likely be the favorites again to win the NBA Championship for the 2020-21 season, not surprise anyone. The Lakers also met with Anthony Davis, the pending free agent this week. Davis would be a welcome accommodation for any team that wants to compete, but is there something bigger going on with Lebron’s extension and Anthony Davis negotiating a potential five-year max deal worth $202 Million.

There have been some stories swirling that Lebron and Davis have been trying to recruit Giannis Antetokounmpo. The rumors picked up more when ESPN’s Brian Windhorst brought up the idea. Lebron is resigning, and Anthony Davis is negotiating for a new deal that will now more than likely put the kibosh on that happening. The NBA, their contracts, and players recruiting could always make it rather intriguing.

The Lakers will be the favorite to win it all again; they already look good heading into the new season. General Manager Rob Pelinka, who is now in his third year being the General Manager for the Lakers, was able to add some talented players this short off-season. He was able to obtain Dennis Schröder by trading Danny Green and get rights to Jaden McDaniels. The Lakers signed Montrezl Harrell, who now will be in a new Locker Room instead of the one he’s been in during his time with the Los Angeles Clippers. Then to round it out by bringing in 12-year veteran Center Marc Gasol with a 2-year deal.

Lebron and company will still be the hottest ticket in town, and that’s even with the Dodgers winning the World Series. L.A. is a Lakers town and always will be, and now they have their King for two more years. Will this new contract bring Lebron his fourth and fifth NBA Championship ring? The Lakers resigning him can give their fans something to look forward to for the next few years.

That does not mean that teams going after them won’t be powerful also, and it for sure won’t be easy to ignore by any means. The Milwaukee Bucks ranked #1 on many sites for the 2020-21 Power Rankings, will have their studs Giannis Anteokounpo and Khris Middleton. The L.A. Clippers, who also live on Figueroa Street in the Staples Center, have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The Lakers just made it a little bit tougher for the Clippers after Lebron recruited Montrezl Harrell away, but new Clippers coach Tyronn Lue should still do well with his new squad. Before last week, many NBA fans expected that the Golden State Warriors would come roaring back but with the unfortunate injury to Klay Thompson, who tore his Achilles last month. That could cause some issues for the team in the bay area.

The season will be here soon, and we will be eager to watch and see how it all unfolds. It looks very promising that we will have another great year of the NBA in just a few weeks.
