The current football season for the two titans of Spanish football can be resumed with the word STRUGGLE. Both teams are having one of their worst seasons in terms of football and consistency on the pitch as of the time of this writing.
The current LaLiga champions are struggling more than ever and every game for “Los Blancos” can go either way. Since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid has not been able to recapture the magic the team had with him as the centerpiece of the team.
When Eden Hazard was brought to become the new centerpiece of the team it seen with excitement, but injuries and inconsistent performances from the Belgian have not help the team on the previous and current season.
Despite the struggles the team has on the pitch, Sergio Ramos has raised to the occasion as both captain and player when the team has needed him the most. Ramos has proven to be a great captain and trying to do his best to turn things around for the better for the team.
Unlike Barcelona, “Los Blancos” seem to be on a stable place financially wise and all plans indicate on the next transfer window , “Los Blancos” are planning a big transfer of the likes of Mbappe or Haaland to strengthen their offense. Another positive for Los Blancos is the rise of some of their young players. Federico Valverde, Odegaard, Rodrygo and Vinicius are showing sparks of the potential stars they can be for the club when they are on the pitch.
Turmoil has followed the club ever since their historic 2-8 defeat to Bayern Munich last season. Messi trying to leave the club following that and how the relationship with former club president Josep Maria Bartomeu swore completely after that debacle.
As mentioned before, the current economic state of the club is really bad right now and these economic issues have been accelerated thanks to the COVID-19 Pandemic. For now, things seems to be heading on a negative route on this department.
On a similar case to Eden Hazard in Real Madrid, Antonie Griezmann has been struggling this last two seasons with Barcelona and has not been nowhere near close to the level of player we all saw he can be when he was with Atlético De Madrid.
Ansu Fati and Riqui Puig are two young prospects that are showing a lot of potential for the club and are being to of the highlight players for the team right now. Ansu Fati in particular has shown the potential to take the mantle of Messi as the new centerpiece of the Barcelona project of the future. While Fati and Puig are showing promise, the team needs for their more veteran players to set up their game or they will be on another winning-less season.
Messi, who is with no doubts the best player in the club’s history, has been nowhere near the level we general see with him every week. The Barcelona captain has not been the same after the 2-8 defeat and the drama he was involved when he tried to leave the club this past summer. Barcelona are now on a dilema, do they sell Messi this upcoming winter transfer window or do they keep him for the rest of the season and see him leave the club for free the next summer transfer window?
