It’s Thanksgiving which means that we are going to have the joy of TWO Thursday games instead of 1 and lo and behold they now fit the Thursday mold. Thanksgiving is a tough one to judge for values, but make sure no matter what you leave those Flex spots open in case you need to make a quick change on Sunday.
Here is a fantasy football overview for all three…er…two turkey day games:
Houston Texans @ Detroit Lions
Injury concerns: Randall Cobb OUT, D’Andre Swift QUES, Kenny Golladay OUT, Danny Amendola OUT
It finally happened; Deshaun Watson had a solid QB1 performance against New England last week and this week faces a middle of the road Lions defense that just was beaten by PJ Walker of the Panthers. Duke Johnson hasn’t done much with his chances as lead back so far, but he does face the worst defense against RBs in fantasy. Good news for Fuller and Cooks owners, they face the 21st ranked Lions defense against receivers so you can play them. Keke Coutee filled in for the injured Cobb, and scored a TD so there is intrigue there if you need a deep flier.
OOOOOOF. That’s about all that can be said about the Lions offense with a banged up Stafford, no Swift, and no Golladay. With this being the first game on Thanksgiving, keep an eye on the injury report as you get ready for Thanksgiving lunch. Stafford faces the 22nd ranked defense against QBs, Swift the 30th against RBs, Jones against the 22nd against WRs, and Hockenson faces a middle of the ranks defense against TEs. Swift is going to be questionable so keep an eye on the pregame injury report. With Golladay out, I like Jones to get the bulk of the work, and you can take a flier on Kerryon if Swift is out
- Start Watson, Stafford
- Start Johnson, Swift if Active
- You can play Kerryon, but try to avoid
- Start Fuller and Cooks
- Start Jones, Start Hall only in deeper leagues
- Start Hockenson
Washington Football Team @ Dallas Cowboys
Injury concerns: Terry McLaurin QUES, Antonio Gibson QUES
We talk about a player being matchup proof, but we are seeing Terry McLaurin as QB proof. With Haskins, Kyle Allen, and Alex Smith throwing to him, McLaurin has put together an impressive season. This week, he faces the second worst defense against wide receivers. Teammates Antonio Gibson and JD McKissic are showing that they both can carry value each week. I think Steven Sims is also an intriguing play with the Cowboys not doing much at slowing down offenses.
On the Dallas side of the ball, credit where credit is due, Zeke found the endzone for the first time since Dak went down. It’s going to be tougher this week facing the fifth best defense against RBs. It doesn’t get better for Cooper, Lamb, and Gallup trying to continue the success they saw last week, as they face the number one defense against receivers. Dalton Schultz is looking like a viable tight end option these days and has the best matchup for the offense facing the 21st ranked defense against TEs.
- Avoid QBs here
- Start Gibson AND McKissic
- Start Zeke
- Start McLaurin
- Start Cooper, Lamb would be a flex, but put him in as a WR b/c Thursday
- Start Thomas and Schultz if you are in deeper leagues
