Tonight is the night that 60 men will achieve their goal of being drafted in the National Basketball Association. We’re all fully aware that this was an unique year deprived of a NBA Combine and the typical workout schedule potential draft picks would have. The draft is also taking place just a few weeks before training camps open meaning the rookies this year will have even less time than normal to adjust to the difference in competition that the NBA presents.
The favorites for the NBA Draft have been set for months, but there has been some movement over the last few weeks.
First Overall Pick
- Lamelo Ball (-121)
- Anthony Edwards (-118)
- James Wiseman (+900)
- Obi Toppin (+10000)
- Deni Avdija (+20000)
Lamelo Ball has long been thought of as the #1 Overall Pick in this year’s draft. However, Anthony Edwards has been receiving interest from the Minnesota Timberwolves that may have him end up as the #1 Overall Pick. If you search Anthony Edwards, most of the articles show pundits picking Edwards as the 1st Overall pick this year. I think its safe to assume he will play for the Minnesota Timberwolves next year.
The rest of the draft is tough to bet as it is assumed that there will be a ton of movement via trade throughout the night. DraftKings Sportsbook has a host of interesting prop bets that you can look at including Player Draft Position OVER or UNDER their projected position, picks 10-19, picks 20-29, Top 10 Specials, Conference Specials and School Specials.
Here are some of my favorites bets from these props.
James Wiseman UNDER 2.5 (-129)
If the Warriors do not make the rumored trade for Kevin Love and Anthony Edwards is drafted 1st Overall, Wiseman looks like a perfect fit for the Warriors. Clearly, there is some interest in acquiring a big man for the Bay Area franchise and Wiseman has a skill set that would compliment the Warriors well. At cheap minus value, this seems like a decent risk.
Number of Freshman Drafted in the Top 10 UNDER 4.5 (+103)
It is a bit strange to see plus value for this bet as most years the draft is littered with incredibly talented 1 and done players. This year, However, there is a healthy mix of international and experienced players in most mock drafts. The consensus is that 4 freshman will be drafted according to most Mock Drafts I read today.
