As we get into the first week of the NBA offseason with some action, its time we look at the top 5 players in the updated NBA MVP Odds.
Luka Doncic (+450)
Luka opened up the year tied with Giannis for MVP favorite, but according to the updated DraftKings Sportsbook odds, Luka is standing alone at +450. A lot of this movement has to be because the Mavericks are looking to find a 3rd option via trade this offseason. We also see that the Mavericks are expressing interest in Danilo Gallinari, a player that would be an outstanding complimentary piece for the All Star duo of Luka and Kristaps Porzingis. The 3rd year player seems like the easiest bet for a NBA MVP Award Future this early and is rightfully sitting at #1 in various Sportsbooks.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (+600)
It should be no surprise that the back-to-back MVP and reigning defensive player of the year is in the top 5 for MVP favorites. He is one of the most important players in the NBA as there is serious doubt amongst hoops fans regarding the Milwaukee Bucks ability to make the playoffs without him. Can Giannis 3-Peat the award?
Anthony Davis & Lebron James (+700)
The superstar duo and defending NBA Champions tie at 3rd place in the MVP odds. Its obvious to see why this is a difficult bet to consider during a great week to start betting NBA Futures. With two players showing the ability to win the MVP, its difficult to see MVP Voters giving the award to either. Lebron James arguably deserved the award over Giannis last season, but his Finals MVP and 4th Championship Ring will probably suffice as a consolation prize.
The pair will have a great season and they’ve traded the inconsistency of Danny Green for Dennis Schroder which should be a very interesting complimentary piece for the pair to work with. This is not a bet I’m seriously considering.
Stephen Curry (+1000)
This is my absolutely favorite bet for the NBA MVP Award this season. The Warriors will be back. Nobody will be shocked, but everyone will be upset again.
The Warriors will be healthy with Steph and Klay Thompson returning from injury and the Bay Area team is looking to be aggressive this offseason to improve their roster on the floor. Not only that, but the Warriors have a $17.2mil trade exception they can use!
Currently, the Warriors will draft second in the draft which gives them yet another opportunity to build their team into a thorn in Lebron’s side again as he seeks to repeat the Lakers Championship run.
Without a doubt, Steph will be amongst the MVP favorites and a return to his Hall of Fame form will make it very difficult for voters not to award the point guard with the trophy once again.
